A Concise Overview of RV Upkeep
You do realise that
a caravan is not as cheap and affordable as a typical car. You can't really
compare the cost of servicing a motor home with that of fixing a car or truck
during the winter or summer.
The purchase of a
motorhome is, without a question, an expensive luxury. Taking it in for
commercial vehicle testing after every trip to a neighbouring weekend vacation
is unnecessary, but you should still keep up with routine maintenance.
The following is a
list of helpful hints compiled by experts in the fields of HGV testing, MOT
testing, and R.V MOT
Preparation, as well as mobile home care in general:
Take your RV in for
some routine maintenance at a certified service centre before loading up the
family and heading off for a weekend in the local woods.
Inspect the
sidewalls of your motorhome tyres twice for cracks. To make sure your
motorhome's tyres are properly inflated, see the vehicle's manual.
Tires on the coach
should be replaced if they are older than 5 years before setting out on any
journey, no matter how brief. This has nothing to do with vehicle service or
maintenance. As was already mentioned, home vans are more expensive and finicky
to maintain.
If you plan on
using a mobile home after storing it for a while, it is especially important to
make sure that all of the lights work and the batteries are still good. These
tests are necessary even if you don't regularly take your van in for commercial
vehicle maintenance. If you're using an RV that you've had stored for a while,
make sure that all of the lights work and that the batteries are still good. A
good example is if you haven't used it since last spring and it's been sitting
in your garage for more than six months. It's possible that some batteries have
already died.
To get your RV
spotless, invest in a power hose. As a result, you'll have significantly less
time spent on this.
It's a good idea to
give the RV's engine a "once over" before taking off on a trip with
the family. It is important to remove any old fuel from the tank to ensure the
engine starts every time.
After having your R.V servicing,
make sure the seals around all of the doors are in good working order. Some of
these door seals are probably broken or missing. Replace old rubber seals on
doors with new ones or fix the ones that have broken.
If you take the
time to educate yourself, you should be able to avoid serious (and costly) R.V repairs.
